The Municipality of Messini is part of the Prefecture of Messini in the Peloponnese Region and was established under the “Kallikrates” Project, from the merging of the Municipalities of Aepia, Androusa, Aristomeni, Voufrades, Ithomi, Messini, Petalidi and the Community of Trikorfo. The population of the municipality is about 23,500 inhabitants.
The city of Messini, is the seat of the municipality and is just 10 km away from the prefecture’s capital, Kalamata, and just 2 km away from the International Airport of Kalamata. International airlines fly directly from Messini to many European cities. It can be accessed by road from Athens in about 2.5 hours. Messini is a modern town with shops, banks, public services and tourist facilities.
